This collaboration began with Schaller’s long-standing use of ARTISAN & ARTIST silk straps. United by his distinctive aesthetic and the brand’s commitment to craftsmanship, the partnership debuted in 2024 with a 500-piece limited edition. Following its strong reception, the second edition now comes to life.
Inspired by Schaller’s “White & Black” monochrome world, the design retains the 35mm film perforation motif on the front, while the reverse introduces “Kuroya-gasuri,” a traditional black arrow-pattern textile. The result is a refined balance of classical and contemporary expression.
Artistry, Exclusivity, and Versatility
The strap is finished with a foil-stamped “ALAN SCHALLER EDITION” logo, enhancing its collector’s value. Each piece includes a special presentation package with a signed snow landscape photograph taken by Schaller in Japan and printed on museum-grade photographic paper.
Responding to user feedback, the strap is available in two lengths—Standard (980mm) and Long (1,200mm), offering greater versatility across shooting styles and camera setups.
Flat-Type Silk Cord Strap
This strap is crafted from premium silk kumihimo, traditionally used in Japanese formal wear, and hand-braided by master artisans at a historic Kyoto atelier. Featuring the traditional “Yurugi-gumi” (Kanmuri-gumi) flat braid, it offers excellent durability, a soft feel against the skin, and silk’s natural luster.
The flat construction is resistant to twisting and reduces strain on the neck, ensuring comfort during extended use. Thanks to silk’s natural flexibility, the strap can also be wrapped around the wrist or knotted to adjust length, providing added versatility.
*This product is a long type suitable for diagonal hanging.
