This camera strap, crafted from silk cord, is beloved as a stylish accessory for traditional Japanese attire.
The strap showcases the unique, soft texture and beautiful luster of silk, while the craftsmanship of skilled artisans in Kyoto ensures that each piece is durable yet gentle on the skin.
The strap is carefully woven using the ‘Ayatake’ technique, a traditional method dating back to the Kamakura period, originally used for making ‘omogai’ (decorative cords for horse gear, including bridles and reins).
The distinctive feature of this weaving style is its ability to create a variety of patterns depending on how the threads are combined.
The strap features a stunning gradient transition from black to red and from black to silver, showcasing subtle color changes that are meticulously dyed using natural dyes.
The experienced artisans adjust the dyeing process according to the temperature and humidity to achieve the perfect tone.
Using the traditional yurugi-gumi (crown) braiding technique, this strap resists twisting, reduces strain on the neck, and provides comfort even during prolonged use. Additionally, thanks to silk’s inherent flexibility, it can be wrapped around the hand or knotted to adjust its length as needed. Additionally, a new 1,200mm long type has been added to the collection.
The leather fastening features a reinforced white hand stitch at the center, embodying Artisan and Artist’s iconic design.
In the revitalized model, we have changed the attachment ring from brass to stainless steel, enhancing flexibility.
This improvement also makes the strap easier to handle and reduces strain on the fingers during attachment and removal.
Furthermore, the leather has been updated to a modern smooth finish, with a refined foil-pressed logo thanks to new technology.
